How To Clean Fabric Office Chairs

Posted on 31 August 2016

Take a quick look around your workplace and take note of how many people are sitting in fabric office chair. In all likelihood, most (if not all) of your colleagues are probably reclining in a chair that fits into this category in some way, shape or form. Fabric is, after all, far more comfortable than leather and even mesh. These seats are, however, prone to getting a little dirty.

Step 1: Give the back and the seat of the chair a good vacuum (make sure that you use the brush attachment to ensure every speck of dust is sucked up).

Step 2: Spray the fabric with an even layer of an upholstery cleaning foam, making sure that you thoroughly cover the back support and the seat. Leave to sit for the time specified on the product.

Step 3: Take a scrubbing brush and use it to rub at the office chair, focusing specifically on dirty spots and stains that you have noticed. Leave the fabric to dry for 5 or 10 minutes.

Step 4: Give the fabric another go over with the vacuum to remove any dirt that was drawn out of the padding by the cleaning foam.

You can also give the armrests and legs of your office chair a wipe down using a cloth that you have dampened with water and an all-purpose cleaner. Just avoid using water on the fabric, as it will take a long time to dry and could actually cause the chair to develop mold or mildew growth, which will start to smell and become extremely uncomfortable.
